"Keep your friends close and your farmers closer."
The Co-op believes in good, clean food, and that good, clean food
should be available to anyone who wants to incorporate a more
nutritionally dense, seasonal, ripe and place-based (local) diet into
their life.
The Co-op also strives to provide access to learning about good food
and how to choose, prepare, and preserve food that is at its peak
goodness! Our cafe strengthens our relationships with local
producers and connects us to the products that we proudly sell in
the Grocery Market Co-op. We hope that this work will propel our
community towards greater health while bringing families together,
growing healthy food literacy and connection.
EVERY MENU ITEM CONTAINS AN ABUNDANCE OF LOCALLY PRODUCED INGREDIENTS, ALL YEAR ROUND!
During the high production seasons, your entire plate may be 100%
locally produced. This is the goal. We always strive towards
zero-waste goals in our Grocery Market and what better way to
ensure this than to develop a creative kitchen filled with amazing
and creative people, transforming raw food ingredients into
superbly paired, prepared, and plated meals for you!
this is the place!
WE HOPE YOU WILL FEEL NOURISHED AND COMPLETE AFTER WE’VE FED YOU.
Because we are community-owned, we aspire to create a space that feels
like you’re sitting in your gramma’s kitchen while you’re here! We strive to
serve you with appreciation and gratitude for your continued support,
making your time at Uproot a seamless combination of relaxation,
inspiration and meeting new friends. Every time.
Your Good Food Co-op operates as a
NOT-FOR-PROFIT
with a mission to provide easy access to the best possible food for all.
Everyone is always
welcome and anyone
can eat from our PAY AS YOU WISH menu feature.
(this means that if you don't have the means today to buy a meal, we've got you covered!)
OUR DEDICATED STAFF
All of our staff work selflessly to ensure that we are closer to
meeting our mission every day.
We are proud to pay our exceptional staff above the region’s
“fair-living wage” model.
So, we have collectively decided that all of
the gratuities that Uproot Community Cafe inspires our customers to
give, will be put towards meeting our goals; providing food literacy
workshops at affordable (or no) cost, making our grocery prices as
accessible as possible, providing a fund for our Pay As You Wish
menu feature, and other community-based initiatives.
