UPROOT COMMUNITY KITCHEN RENTAL
A co-operative kitchen for creators and innovators to refine their palate, hone their passion for food, fill-up their pantry & build-up their good food businesses!
Muskoka North Good Food Co-op’s community kitchen has rental potential. The kitchen consists of a commercial electric convection oven, a 6-burner gas range with 2 ovens, a refrigerator & a freezer (with advanced notice, minimal space can be made available only while you are using the kitchen), 3 deep sinks with spray hose and commercial dishwasher, lots of prep space, some small appliances & smallwares (Kitchen-Aid mixer, blender, pots, pans, cutting boards, knives, food processor, bowls, etc) but we encourage people to bring and use their own gear if possible.
The Co-op rents out its kitchen by the hour to people who need inspected, commercial kitchen space to prepare their food, and to individuals who need more space to be creative, batch cook, need a test kitchen or want to host a group to do collaborative cooking.
The kitchen is available most weekdays & evenings, as well as on weekends. (Note: on Monday-Saturday, the kitchen is only available from 3pm onwards and is available until the morning at 8:00am. Sunday, it is available ALL DAY).
At this point, there is no on-site storage for equipment or ingredients – you will need to bring your gear, and take it with you when you go. You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself, taking out your own garbage/compost/recycling, and replacing/repairing anything that may break.
On your first visit, Kitchen staff will go through a safety check-list with you, as well as provide contact numbers for any emergency or urgent matters while you are using the kitchen.
You MUST be a member-owner of the Co-op to use the kitchen facility.
Rental rates are based on type of use, and are as follows:
1. Counters only- $10/hr
2. Stove top and kitchen- $15/hr
3. Stove, ovens and kitchen- $20/hr
If the kitchen is being used for 4 hours or more:
1. Counters only- $30 (1st 4 hrs) + $5 every hour after
2. Stove top and kitchen- $50 (1st 4 hrs) + $10 every hour after
3. Ovens and kitchen- $65 (1st 4 hrs) + $15 every hour after.
If you are renting for business purposes, we ask that you have your Safe Food Handler’s certification and proof of liability insurance.
