Volunteers are the heartbeat of every not for profit, member owned grocery market and food co-operative.  We at MNGFC are truly grateful for the member-owners who donate their time and talent in support of this community initiative.  We WANT TO engage a wonderful and large group of people to help us run the co-op! Then… we WILL be building skills, sharing knowledge, opening doors for future employment, and keeping costs down, and fulfilling our mission to make good food accessible!

Currently we are looking for volunteers to help with:

IN Season Mobile Agri-Market: Sales and Customer Service shifts

Training is required and will be provided by MNGFC for this role; tasks include cash handling / POS, product stocking, receiving, pricing and other organizational tasks as required. Some lifting 10-20lbs is required.  We are looking specifically for volunteers who can commit to a regular weekly shift (or shifts) if possible.

Community events and special Co-op functions

These are ad-hoc opportunities and we often need a lot of volunteers for short periods of time. Tasks include event planning and decor, food preparation and service, canvassing and more!

Construction of the future Co-op Market storefront

We welcome volunteers who have strong experience and skills in one or more trades that can work independently and as part of a team.  Some tools and safety equipment will be required.

*Youth Volunteers

We are happy to accommodate local students aged 15+ seeking volunteer hours for academic purposes.  Please email us at info@muskokanorthfood.com if you are a student, or parent of a student looking to volunteer. Student Volunteers are not required to be member-owners of the Muskoka North Good Food Co-op.

We truly appreciate anyone who wishes to volunteer their time to the co-op.  Currently we are looking for volunteers to help with:

  • working shifts at the food market (at 1 Crescent Road)
    • since training is required for this work, we are looking specifically for volunteers who can commit to a regular weekly shift (or shifts) if possible
  • canvassing
  • planning and running events
    • these are ad-hoc opportunities and we often need a lot of volunteers for short periods of time
  • building the store
    • we specifically need people who have strong experience and skills in one or more trades that can work independently

Please contact us by email if you want to volunteer or simply subscribe yourself to our volunteer mailing list (just make sure you click on the “Available to volunteer” option when signing up).

Finally, please be aware that those of us who are managing the co-op right now are also volunteers and we are dedicating a lot of time to this project.  Therefore, while we do our best to respond to all requests promptly, we may not call on you to help until there is an opportunity.
